Does Good Sleep accept insurance?
In order to save you money, Good Sleep is a self-pay service. In most cases, our program is less expensive than out-of-pocket costs for patients who use their insurance to diagnose and treat obstructive sleep apnea.
How does Good Sleep save me money on sleep apnea testing and treatment?
Most health insurance companies require that you spend two nights in a sleep lab for comprehensive polysomnography. These tests can diagnose any sleep disorder, not just obstructive sleep apnea. However, they are very expensive.
While insurance plans vary greatly from state-to-state and from patient-to-patient, the average total out-of-pocket costs for two in-lab sleep studies, the physician office visits, CPAP machine, and supplies, can be well over $2000 after the deductible has been met. Insurance deductibles are often upwards of $3000-5000.
Good Sleep gives you the same quality diagnosis and treatment for a fraction of the cost, and it's all done in the comfort of your own home. Additionally, any money you spend at Good Sleep can count toward your insurance deductible for other healthcare services or products.
Will my FSA or HSA pay for a home sleep test?
In most cases, yes, your Flexible Spending Accounts and Health Savings Accounts can be used to cover the cost of your home sleep apnea test. However, most FSA and HSA cards do not work for online purchases. If this is the case for your FSA or HSA, you will need to pay for the home sleep apnea test and CPAP machine with your credit card.
Then, you can be reimbursed by your FSA or HSA. We recommend speaking with your HR representative or your plan provider first so that you have a full understanding of your plan options.
Does Good Sleep offer payment plans?
Purchasing an AutoPAP or CPAP machine and associated equipment upfront can be difficult for many people. To make this equipment more accessible, Good Sleep provides a payment plan.
How do I submit an insurance claim for my ApneaMed equipment?
While Good Sleep does not accept insurance, you can bill your insurance after you purchased a home sleep test, CPAP or AutoPAP machine, or other equipment from our store. We have outlined how to bill your insurance, and recommend you follow the instructions on the linked page.
Good Sleep Home Sleep Apnea Test
Being able to test for sleep apnea within the comfort of your own home can sound too good to be true. But with Good Sleep, you can do just that. However, there are some restrictions on our home sleep test, which individuals have asked about, as well as other common home sleep apnea test questions.
Is the Good Sleep home sleep apnea test for everyone?
No. Home sleep apnea tests are only approved for adults 18 years and older, and these tests are limited to diagnosing obstructive sleep apnea.
If you believe you have another sleep disorder, or if you have certain medical comorbidities such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder, congestive heart failure, or neuromuscular disease, then you should see your primary care physician and get an order for an in-lab sleep study.
Do I need a doctor’s order for the home sleep apnea test?
A physician's order is not required for an Good Sleep home sleep apnea test. All you need to do is order a home sleep test, use it as instructed, and send the test unit back for evaluation.
Once your home sleep test data has been evaluated and interpreted by one of our board-certified sleep physicians, a recommendation may be given for an AutoPAP machine to assist with your obstructive sleep apnea. This interpretation and recommendations will allow you to purchase an AutoPAP machine from any distributor, including Good Sleep.
Do I need to send the home sleep apnea unit back?
Yes, you will need to send the entire home sleep apnea test unit back to Good Sleep. With your home sleep test, there are instructions concerning how and where to mail back the test unit. Good Sleep's board-certified sleep physicians will not be able to interpret your sleep data without the home sleep test unit.

What kind of sleep apnea equipment can I order from Good Sleep?
There is a range of sleep apnea treatment equipment you can order here at Good Sleep. Everything you need, such as Auto Pap machines, CPAP mask hose and replacement filters are available.
Everyone talks about CPAP machines but you offer AutoPAP machine. Are they the same thing? Which is better for me?
Both CPAP and AutoPAP machines are used to treat sleep apnea. However, how they treat your sleep apnea is different.
With a CPAP machine, you get continuous positive airway pressure. This air pressure is set for the highest amount of pressure that you will need during the night, which can be overwhelming when you are trying to drift to sleep. Instead of gently dozing off, you will need to try to drop off into your rest while highly pressurized air is blowing through your sleep apnea mask.
Instead of dealing with the highest level of air pressure, the AutoPAP automatically adjusts to your airway needs throughout the night. There are sensors built into an AutoPAP machine that allows the machine to detect what kind of air pressure you need to keep your airway open. That way, you can breathe more easily throughout the night and not become overwhelmed by too much air pressure.
So, if you want to prioritize your comfort at night while managing your sleep apnea effectively, choosing an AutoPAP is a good option.
How do I take care of my AutoPAP machine and equipment?
Your sleep apnea treatment equipment—mask, hose, and machine—all require periodic maintenance. Like anything else, the better you take care of your equipment, the better it will take care of you.
Your equipment will come with instructions for cleaning and maintenance. Additionally, you may view this video for basic care instructions for your AutoPAP machine.
How do I know what size mask to order?
It is important that your mask fit your face appropriately. PAP masks do not require a perfect seal, but excessive mask leaks can lead to improper treatment. To help prevent this, we send out a mask fitting guide with each of our HST units so you can know ahead of time what size mask will fit you the best.
Should I order a nasal mask or a full face mask?
Both mask types are acceptable and effective in treating sleep apnea, but there are important differences to note.
A nasal mask fits on or over your nose to deliver air through your nasal passages only, while a full face mask fits over your nose and mouth to deliver air through both the nose and mouth.
Many patients with untreated sleep apnea will naturally open their mouth during sleep to try to capture more air. However, most will be able to keep their mouths closed during sleep once they are treated with an AutoPAP or CPAP machine.
Many mouth breathers, including those with narrow nasal passages or deviated septums, perform better with a full face mask. Many others find nasal masks to be more comfortable and less obtrusive. In the end, your personal preference should be why you choose a particular CPAP mask.
How often should I purchase a new mask and hose?
It is recommended that masks and hoses be replaced every three to six months. Over time, these supplies can get bacteria built up in them, which can lead to respiratory infections and other illnesses. Additionally, old masks and hoses are more prone to air leaks and facial discomfort.
